Orbit Downloader 2.8.7 is released

Orbit Downloader 2.8.7 is released.

A new version, which fixed some little bugs too.
AVG did NOT detect it now. Perhaps it was a FALSE POSITIVE detection for the previous two days. Anyway, we have released a new version.

*Fix: conflict with AVG

Hi

I know I should use the forum to report bugs but it seems as no one is there to actually answer... properly... probably because of the wrong behavior other people have there, I've seen the same on AMD's forum as well... so I'm hoping I have more luck here.

The problem is that I'm getting weird behavior on Windows 7 64-bit regarding memory usage... probably memory leaks.

Right now I'm on the public beta build 7000, but I'll be moving the the RC1 7057 and I'll see if it behaves the same.

The issue is that it eats RAM that I can't recover. I've tried to use memory freeing apps, but none has worked.

During it's operation and even after I close Orbit, from 1.3 GB of free RAM, it gradually decreases and in the end I'm left with 200 or 300 MB and any attempt to recover it was in vain.

The Resource Monitor says it's in use, but no application has that much working memory assigned to it... the same for task manager and the memory cleanup utility that I use, TweakRAM.

The only solution I found so far was to restart the system to recover that 1 GB of memory that got lost.

Another thing related is this happens when downloading many large files and it happened every time under the same circumstances.

I was downloading around 50 to 80, 200 MB files from Rapidshare. Each session I did that it displayed the same behavior.

If you need more info to solve this issue, please feel free to contact me at pascal4nasa (at) yahoo (dot) com.

I hope this gets you attention, because Orbit is a great and free product that is hard to replace even by commercial download managers and I would want to avoid that.

Thank you for your time!

Hi,

Have you removed the involuntary Orbit Search (Powered by Google) installation at the browsers? Other than that, it's a great application! But with that... )=
