New oneclick addon sucks, it is dramatically slowing down firefox. I'm going to remove it. What's wrong with the old GetIt version? I liked it, simpler and trasparent to the user. I don't like new stuff on my firefox toolbar and menu, at least i'd like to be able to hide it.

Do you plan to develop a version for mac? In the meantime, can you suggest an alternative for mac?

Thanks.

Whether integration in Opera 10 will be realised?

Hi

I have been using OrbitDownloader since my 1st PC and it is my personal favourite download manager. I am a fan but this current version include the Firefox addon 'One-Click YouTube Downloader' which cause my Firefox 3.5.3 to not load webpages when launched. Uninstalled the addon from FF and FF works fine but this disabled the downloader's integration with FF instead. Had to return to the previous version (without the addon). Hope you can check on this bug.

Both of the firefox addons. 'Grab Pro for firefox 1.0.0' & 'One-Click YouTube Downloader 1.0.1', will cause the firefox crashed if Norton IPS 2.0 (from Norton Internet Security 2010) is enabled.

Nice program, but missing some BASIC FEATURES,compared with other downloaders.
For example,
NO BUTCH -move to top- , one must move to top one by one the links.

Druging and droping one shortcut to the drop window, can't be edit.
For example I drop one shortcut in the drop window, then opens the create new download window. There let's say the URL is www.anonymize.con?www.rapidshare.com etc etc.
I can't delete the portion of www.anonymize.com?
In other words the text in the create new download window CAN'T be edit.

Placing the mouse on the link in Orbit main window, does not show the full name of the link.To see the full name you must go to edit property.

All the above are big dissandvantages.

video indirmek için seçenek çıkmıyor indirirken. Orbit iyi, ancak biraz daha anlaşılır ve basit olsa daha iyi olur. İsmi güzel kolay okunuyor.

same here I"m using ffox 3.0.14 but the videos are freezing when enbling the grabpro button in the toolbar, and once disabled the video are working well again !!!

Once again, this product is not tested enough: the new "Orbit Downloader" Firefox extension broke compatibility with the popular Flock browser. As usual, there is no mention about it in the change log.

Anyway, since the Orbit people never take what the users say into account, why bother?

Look I'm trying to download the 2.8.0.16 version. it worked for me. It had a "get it DIRECTLY" drop down option on the "get it" button that worked when no other option would. Why is it that every download that purports to be one for 2.8.0.16 ALWAYS is a download instead fro the latest version 2.8.0.17 that I CAN'T get to work! I JUST want the older version. Is that too much to ask?

"NO adware! No spyware"

My ass, why do you feel the need to hijack my 404 page?!

H. E. Barrett, Jr. said...

Hey, do any of you still have the 2.8.16 version? I always save downloads and then execute them. Unfortunately, when I downloaded 2.8.17, I click on "replace this with the other" one. I didn't mean to. I any of you have a place to upload the 2.8.16 version and could give me the link, I would greatly appreciate it!

Yes A new extension for firefox is really suck. Now I disable it and wait for new version.

PS. If you want to download older version go to www.filehippo.com and find Orbit downloader

H. E. Barrett, Jr. said...

Actually, Eka-X www.filehippo.com only has the latest version - the 2.8.17 one. But I DID find the 2.8.16 version here: http://www.freshwap.net/applications/25431-orbit-downloader-2.8.16.html
It's a rar file but there was no virus. And NOW all is well!

don`t work in youtube through firefox on vista 32 . and IE 8 is not loading. i have to uninstall it.

My Firefox 3.5.3 lags because of this new Orbit 2.8.17, webpages don't load when launched... the internet connexion became useless.
I had to uninstall this new version of Orbit Downloader, the old one worked most of the time quite fine.

As i'm too lazy to retrieve the old version, i'll just use DownloadHelper for the moment.
Nevermind, thanks anyway.

i had the same problem until i dowloaded Orbit with only one tab opened in Firefox. and i unchecked "Add to Windows Firewall..." (because i have onother firewall ) checkbox on Install Orbit window. but no usefull because no video play till the uninsatlling Orbit. :(

The letters in any window's status bar, is chaking every few seconds, while last version is in use.

I FOUND IT , PEOPLE!!! :))
because i have 2 browsers( IE8 and Firefox) i uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and it worked nice and smoothly .
and it worked on IE8 also but with one tip : DO NOT try to use Orbit in Firefox and IE8 simultaneously. i mean you have to stop all kind of audio or video media on one browser to work in the other one.so you have to stop the video in Firefox to(for example) to work in IE8 and viceversa.
i hope it stays this way . :0 :)

One-Click YouTube Downloader makes Character Encoding under View Menu not work correctly. Auto detect and More can not be selected. Besides its Recoder feature seems like not to support ipv6 very well. When I visit ipv6 pages with it enable, FF says time out. It is OK while recoder disabled.
My firefox is 3.5.3, simplified Chinese.

Firstly, thanks a lot for the service and the software. It's quite useful to me and I guess many others have benefited quite a lot through it.

Secondly, just as the person before me mentioned, I noticed today that the OneClick YoutubeDownloader firefox add-on which got installed along with the Orbit Downloader makes the Character Encoding options (under "View") on firefox unavailable. I had to disable the add-on to fix the problem. I hope this can be corrected.

Some info about my system: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.3) Gecko/20090824 Firefox/3.5.3. I use English (mainly) & Arabic.

Thanks,
Saadiq.

Hi again

Installed the new version Orbit Downloader 2.8.17 again (the first installation before this resulted in my Firefox browser to not load web pages when launched).

Unchecked the 'Enable Recorder' from the drop-down menu of the 'One-Click YouTube Downloader' icon on the FF navigation toolbar.

My FF browser functioned normally thereafter. It appears the 'Recorder' function of the addon caused the problem.

Hope the developer will look into this.

Best Regards

Two things are really bugging me in this release. One is that "one click" firefox addon. Please give an option to remove from the toolbar.
Second thing is that orbit is creating a new default download folder (C:\Downloads) on every start up even though i have set my download folder(in D:\ drive) in the program settings.
Right now i have gone back to the previous version and i am hoping these things get fixed.

Just disable the Recorder and you can use GetIt in Firefox. I've always avoided GetIt (or GrabPro) in Firefox or IE and use Grab++ instead. I hate the toolbars. And now there's the Firefox button that cannot be removed! It keeps being added everytime Firefox starts... I regret deleting the older version. Sigh...

I second everyone's call to either remove the 404 redirect or make it easily disabled. I do appreciate that this is free software and they need either financial support or web traffic, but a 404 redirect is not the way to do it.

If I mistype a URL I want it to remain in the address bar so I can correct it in-line and retry.

dksadiq said...

This is a really useful add-on but if the requested corrections/changes are not made, the users may just switch to other add-ons. I have 2 other requests please:
1 - Remove the 404 redirect
2 - Allow the Orbit Downloader button to be removed from the Firefox Navigation Toolbar. Whenever I remove it (through the "Customize" option on FireFox), it just keeps coming back when I open up FireFox again.

Thanks a lot.

BBC news site video isn't possible to download with Orbit

Anonymous said...

The 404-Redirect thing is totally bogus and **extremely annoying**, being triggered by various URLs that never would have caused such problems with earlier Orbit versions. (Would you like some examples ?)
And YES, I've entered Exceptions / Ignore strings in the Monitoring page, but they often do NOT work.

I may have to downgrade to an earlier Orbit version, or drop it entirely, if this nonsense continues !
