Inconsistent numbering unveils unserious development ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- It's sometimes Orbit 2.7.7, sometimes 2.7.0.7, sometimes still another number... This results in plenty false warnings and useless re-re-re-re-downloads. Even worse, it puts light on the unseriousness of the Orbit developers and management.
Another inconsistency very annoying: when installing, a page proposes "Grab Pro". But clicking the "Download" button... just downloads again Orbit, not Grab Pro!!! and when you look inside Orbit, you still have a "Grab++" component, no "Grab Pro"... then each time somethings doesn't work immediately, you have a load of additional hypotheses to check about possible unserious behavior of the program...
Orbit is a mess! I use it for just a very few things, but how could someone give any credibility to such a mess!!
I think, something is wrong in the current version (2.7.0.7) of Orbit. Or in my computer..... If grab++ is ON - on music pages of multiply sites - the music player on the site load the songs very very slowly. If I swich OF the grab++ and Orbit (I close them) the Player is OK and fast, and I can save (copy) the music files from temporary internet files folder.

Thx for replies - yet still no Grab Pro here - but Grab++ suffices to me 1) To "Padre": on the involved PC (laptop, Feb 2006, Win XP Pro) I usually use IE6 (twice reverted from IE7 after extensively trying it in 2006 and 2007), and sometimes FF (currently 3.0.3). In "Orbit 2.7.7 > Tools" I have a "Grab++" item, no "Grab Pro" (Sorry if I wasn't precise enough). The The use of Grab Pro in Orbit Downloader page brings nothing new to me. Thx anyway. 2) To "Anonymous": the Use Orbit Downloader to download imeem xxx page you point is one of those I talked of (and had read of course). I have instaled the new version on my new Vista PC Before the downloaded olt files were recognized as mp3 now what I got are htm files and no mp3 I have reinstaled and the same problem. Grab* does nor recognize mp3 files also. Old version on Xp work OK. Suggestions? Thanks

If you know, the htm files are mp3's - you can rename the htm files to mp3.
I downloaded Orbit 2.8.11, it still has Grab ++ in it which I do not really mind. What I do mind though, that in Grab ++ the "Rename file by page title" doesn't seem to work. And yes, the option is activated.
Each time I download something, it shows the same file name: get_video.flv.
I don't quite understand why. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Inconsistent numbering unveils unserious development

It's sometimes Orbit 2.7.7, sometimes 2.7.0.7, sometimes still another number... This results in plenty false warnings and useless re-re-re-re-downloads. Even worse, it puts light on the unseriousness of the Orbit developers and management.
Another inconsistency very annoying: when installing, a page proposes "Grab Pro". But clicking the "Download" button... just downloads again Orbit, not Grab Pro!!! and when you look inside Orbit, you still have a "Grab++" component, no "Grab Pro"... then each time somethings doesn't work immediately, you have a load of additional hypotheses to check about possible unserious behavior of the program...
Orbit is a mess! I use it for just a very few things, but how could someone give any credibility to such a mess!!

If grab++ is ON - on music pages of
multiply sites - the music player on the site load the songs very very slowly. If I swich OF the grab++ and Orbit (I close them) the Player is OK and fast, and I can save (copy) the music files from temporary internet files folder.

ReplyDelete1) To "Padre": on the involved PC (laptop, Feb 2006, Win XP Pro) I usually use IE6 (twice reverted from IE7 after extensively trying it in 2006 and 2007), and sometimes FF (currently 3.0.3).
In "Orbit 2.7.7 > Tools" I have a "Grab++" item, no "Grab Pro" (Sorry if I wasn't precise enough). The The use of Grab Pro in Orbit Downloader page brings nothing new to me. Thx anyway.
2) To "Anonymous": the Use Orbit Downloader to download imeem xxx page you point is one of those I talked of (and had read of course). In my system (at least) it does match what I said (please read before replying), not what you seem to imply.
3) No importance anyway: Grab++ worked when I needed it (which is not so often).

If you know, the htm files are
mp3's - you can rename the htm
files to mp3.
